Letter from the PTA President:
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As the president of the NVCS PTA for school year 2008-2009, I welcome you and your families. I’m really pleased that you have chosen our school for your children to learn the Chinese language and culture. As you may already knew that learning Chinese language and culture requires long term commitments in practicing and training, the NVCS offers more than ten classes, from Pre-K to more advanced classes, to accommodate each student’s level. School is like a big family for everyone: school staff, students and parents, and we hope that we will all grow together as we continue the journey of Chinese learning.
Below lists events that PTA organized for the school year:
1. Room #223 is the PTA break room (weekly):
When there’s no planned events for the week, PTA will host parents information sharing sessions at this room #223 to discuss any upcoming events and issues. Everyone is welcome to attend. For monthly activity schedule, please check with your Room Parent(s). For any general PTA information in English, please contact Mrs. Ellen Cheng , and Mrs. Christie Man
Information of PTA in other languages are also available:

3. Chinese New Year Celebration
This is one of the biggest events during the school year and is always an exciting and extraordinary day for all. There will be Food Selling, Talent Show/Chinese Cultural Performance, the Big Raffles, and more. Please bring your family and friends to celebrate this special holiday with us. This coming celebration is set on February 2009.
4. Graduation Party/Picnic:
In mid-June, NVCS will present awards to outstanding students in the graduation ceremony, followed by a pot-luck party. All NVCS families are invited. More information will be provided later.
In addition, PTA offers the following services throughout the year:
1. Adult Classes:
We offer many different classes for parents, such as Tai Chi, Dancing, Community help-out charity activities by weekly. Also providing the following class: how to cook Chinese foods, Investment management, Seniors care, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE, and community resources sharing classes and so on. Please refer to the information packet that was sent home or come to the PTA desk for details.
2. Snack Bar (accept cash only):
In the PTA break room (#223), our Snack Bar sales cookies, chips, candies, hot food, juice boxes, & water for a small fee. We also provide free hot Chinese tea for everyone. Please come and enjoy.
3. Gift Shop (accept Point Coupons only):
PTA created a “Point System” as an incentive to encourage our students to come to Chinese school. Teachers mark points on the Point Record Sheets for students who attend their classes each week. Teachers also give out extra Point Coupons to students who participated in activities. PTA operates the gift shop for students to exchange goods with the points that they have accumulated. Students have a big selection of items to choose from: stationeries, toys, daily use items, and more.
With all the events and services that the school PTA is providing to the NVCS families all year around, we need your support and contributions. We also need volunteers (the more is better) to carry out such events and services. If you think you can lend a hand, please contact us!
Lastly, I hope your child(ren) have a happy and positive environment to grow and learn.
